This past Easter Sunday, Fr. Daniel quoted Pope St. John Paul II — “We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song!” It is truly inspiring to see the church full to capacity and both visitors and parishioners overwhelmed to see the beautiful liturgy and Easter flowers.
The Basilica is not just alive and active on Easter. Each week thousands of people come for Mass, faith formation, concerts, events and outreach. May is particularly busy with confirmations and weddings each weekend.
In just a couple of weeks The Basilica will participate in Doors Open Minneapolis, May 17 and 18. Last year over 1,500 people participated, many visiting for the first time. We plan to have docent tours available, and visitors are welcome to tour the Mary Garden and Art Gallery throughout the weekend. We look forward to welcoming guests and reaching out to the city of Minneapolis.
If you are a visitor – for the first time, or the 20th – you are invited to join our parish and be part of a vibrant community that celebrates faith, proclaims, serves, heals, learns, reflects, shelters, and aids. Visit mary.org/member to learn more and fill out the New Member Form or contact Melissa Streit, Director of Engagement.
