2025 Fiscal Year | Annual Report

FROM THE PASTOR

I am deeply thankful to share the remarkable work and spiritual life of our parish throughout this past Jubilee Year. We have much to celebrate at The Basilica of Saint Mary.

Our Jubilee Year commenced with great joy as Archbishop Bernard Hebda celebrated the Opening Mass on December 28, 2024. Over the course of this sacred year, The Basilica has remained a steadfast source of strength, solace, and hope for so many in our community.

Several significant historic events were marked at The Basilica this past year. In our honored role as a minor basilica, we carried forth the rituals of our distinction as a papal seat. We celebrated the Requiem Mass at The Basilica in remembrance of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, on April 29, 2025. A Mass of Thanksgiving followed 15 days later on May 14, as The Basilica community celebrated with the world at the announcement of Pope Leo XIV leading the Catholic Church.

Our Basilica has supported many families this past year through the sorrows of tragedy. We felt that very closely at the funeral for Melissa and Mark Hortman. I’m honored The Basilica could provide support for the family and community at a time of need. As a beacon of light, our parish’s warmth and hospitality were visible to our state, our nation, and the world.

Our parish continues to embody the beating heart of the Catholic Church – reflecting our values of belonging, healing, and grace. We look ahead in the coming year to contine our journey as Pilgrims of Hope – seeking spiritual renewal and reflection.
