Our Mental Health Film Series returns centered around this year’s theme of trauma. We will be showing films that explore trauma at the individual level, generational trauma, and trauma that affects large communities over time and throughout history. We will explore the causes and the effects of trauma, but also the path towards healing from trauma. Doors open at 1:30pm in the Teresa of Calcutta Hall, lower level. Film begins at 2:00pm. Movie snacks and drinks will be provided.
February 3: What Lies Inside: Healing in the Face of Trauma – This documentary, by filmmaker Luke Renner, explores the nature of trauma and how we as individuals experience it. This film is rate 18+ and shows depictions of violence and death that are not suitable for children.

February 10: Encanto – This Disney film explores the ways in which our families as a whole can experience trauma. It is a magical tale of a family blessed with magical abilities, except for Maribel. When the magic begins to die, Maribel steps up to help her family. Rated: PG

February 17: Dodging Bullets – This Minnesota made documentary, by Native American filmmakers, explores the historical trauma experienced by Native people in North America. It shows the various effects historical trauma can have on the health and wellbeing of entire communities. This film is not rated but contains adult themes and references to violence. Not suitable for children.
