Shawn Colberg Ph.D. was appointed Dean of the Saint John’s School of Theology and Seminary in Collegeville, Minn., beginning July 1, 2022. He succeeds Fr. Dale Launderville, OSB, who served as Dean since 2015. Colberg currently is concurrently an Associate Professor of Theology at Saint John’s University and the College of Saint Benedict. Prior to his appointment, Colberg served as Academic Dean of the School of Theology and Seminary (2019-22), and earlier, as Assistant Professor for Teaching and the Associate Chair for Graduate Studies in the Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame. Colberg received his BA from St. Olaf College, an MDiv from Yale Divinity School and PhD from the University of Notre Dame with focus in medieval and Reformation theology. Published widely in academic journals including Archa Verbi, Modern Theology, New Blackfriars, and Nova et Vetera, Colberg is author of The Wayfarer’s End: Bonaventure and Aquinas on Divine Rewards in Scripture and Sacred Doctrine (Catholic University of America Press, 2020). He and his wife, Kristin Colberg, an associate professor of theology at Saint John’s and Saint Ben’s, are the parents of two daughters, Mary Clare and Catherine.
