Not ‘Second Class Citizens’: Life in the Church After Divorce

Journeying Towards Healing Through Listening and Truth Telling

Saturday, December 6
The Basilica of Saint Mary
Teresa of Calcutta Hall

8:30am Gathering & Food
9:00-12:00pm Program

As we move into Advent, we invite our community to engage in an important restorative experience of listening and healing. We are invited to open our hearts and minds and join together for a discussion of Church teachings on marriage and divorce, grounded in our faith and commitment to healing and life-giving relationships.

The program has three parts:

  • We Learn: Dr. Susan Mulheron, Chancellor for Canonical Affairs for the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis will offer a keynote talk and lead a discussion of Church teachings on marriage, divorce, and the Gospel call to radical mercy, accompaniment, and restoration.
  • We Listen: Hear the honest and vulnerable stories of our sisters and brothers at The Basilica of Saint Mary. We will learn from them, as they share their experience, as we receive and believe.
  • We Integrate: Enter into a safe space of sharing in small groups, as we reflect on and process all we have heard through restorative circles.

Register
