Side By Side Saturday – Speak Something Alive: Spoken Word Poetry w/ Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre

September 13 @ 9:30 am - 11:00 am

  • This event has passed.

The St. Vincent de Paul ministry is hosting a series of interactive events which will allow participants to focus on personal wellness and building connections within the community.

A key focus of these events is to allow members of the Basilica congregation and guests of the SVdP ministries to participate together, side by side.

Today’s session is Speak Something Alive: Spoken Word Poetry w/ Kyle “Guante” Tran Myhre.  Across the globe, the spoken word movement has reignited poetry as a force for artistic expression, critical dialogue, and community-building. As both a form (writing poetry that is meant to be shared aloud) and a deeper cultural practice (tracing its roots back millennia), spoken word creates space for all of us to tell our stories, make our values concrete, and speak up about the issues and ideas that matter to us.

No registration is required. Located in the Teresa of Calcutta Hall, Lower Level.

For more information or if you are interested in serving as a volunteer leader for one of these events, please contact Julia.
