It is that time of year as a parish to elect fellow parishioners to serve on The Basilica of Saint Mary Parish Council. The Parish Council plays an integral role in leadership at The Basilica and serves as an important advisor to Fr. Griffith, providing insights, sensitivities and guidance toward fulfilling the mission of our beloved Basilica.
The Basilica has always been blessed to have talented, passionate and dedicated parishioners who volunteer their time and talents to this important role. During my years serving and working with my fellow parishioners on the Council, including this year in my role as Parish Council Chair, I have been continually humbled by, and grateful, for the wonderful work the Council does on behalf of our parish.
Through the Parish Council election process, each of us has the opportunity to vote for those of our fellow parishioners who we would like to see in this leadership role at The Basilica. This year we are fortunate to have three wonderful candidates who are seeking to fill two open positions on The Basilica Parish Council. Each person elected to the Parish Council will serve a term of three years.
I ask that each member of the parish be an active part of this process by learning about this talented group of candidates and making your voice heard through your vote.
Voting will be conducted through online balloting. For more information on the candidates and for a link to the online ballot, go to mary.org. Photos and short biographies of each candidate are available on the website. Please take the time to carefully consider the candidates and to vote for the candidates of your choice.
On May 27, the online ballot will be available, and voting begins on that day. You will be able to vote any time from May 27 until the voting closes at the end of the day on June 9. Leadership provided by your fellow parishioners who serve on the Parish Council is critical to the success of The Basilica’s mission and our impact on the community. Each member of the parish has a meaningful role to play by carefully considering the candidates and participating in the Parish Council elections with your vote. The Parish Council represents you—our parishioners. The Council plays a key role in working with the pastor to ensure that The Basilica of Saint Mary community continues to live out our mission and vision. Every registered adult parishioner is entitled to one vote.
Please vote for 2 individuals to represent parish ministries.
The election is open from May 27 – June 9, 2025. Ballots must be cast by June 9, 5:00pm.
