The Basilica’s partnership with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity began in 1995, and for 28 years we’ve remained committed to families’ long term success as homeowners. Homeownership is directly linked to healthier lives, continuing education, a viable workforce, and generational wealth. It’s a magical moment when a family receives the keys to their Habitat home, and our parish is proud to partner with Habitat to build forward together.
Our Habitat committee is hosting an ice cream social and sign-up drive this weekend, inviting you to help with our build the week of Monday, August 7 through Friday, August 11 in the nearby Harrison neighborhood of Minneapolis. Anyone 16+ years old may build (16-17 year olds need to be accompanied by an adult age 21+). Participate for one day or multiple days – the choice is yours.
Please stop by our outdoor ice cream tables to learn more or sign up directly at http://basilica.tchabitat.volunteerhub.com/. We also look for volunteers to provide breakfast or lunch for our volunteers on build days. Please contact Julia if you can help with hospitality.
“I’m so grateful and blessed that my happiest moments with my family occurred in the house that is capable of bringing all sorts of people together. A home that gives you love, comfort, and enjoyable, unforgettable memories that one, including myself, can only cherish.” – Sienna, granddaughter of Habitat homeowner Deborah
