We are very fortunate and excited to partner with Joe Cybert to elevate our focus around safety & security. Keeping our staff, parishioners and all that come to the Basilica safe is at the forefront of our minds. We look forward to Joe’s leadership and efforts in this very important area.
Joe is a native of Minnesota. He grew up in Brooklyn Park, the youngest of four children. Joe graduated from the University of St. Thomas in 2000 with a degree in Quantitative Methods in Computer Science. After working briefly in that industry, Joe realized his purpose was to serve others. In 2002, Joe made the decision to pursue a career in law enforcement. Over the next 17 years, Joe lived in Houston, TX, Washington, D.C., and Denver, CO. He worked in nearly all capacities of law enforcement, serving his community as a forensic investigator, a SWAT team leader, and as the basic training manager to name just a few.
In 2019, after retiring from law enforcement, Joe and his family moved to Madrid, Spain for three years. Joe took the skills he learned from his prior career and began working with the United Stated Department of State conducting overseas investigations. Joe and his family recently moved back to Minneapolis, happy to be back with family and many friends. Joe was a member of The Basilica back in 1997 to 2002 and is very humbled to be taking on this new role here at The Basilica.
Please be sure to welcome Joe when you see him on campus.
